UFC Vegas 109 delivered high-octane action from the Apex in Las Vegas, with Anthony Hernandez putting on a career-best performance in the main event. “Fluffy” dismantled Roman Dolidze from start to finish, earning a fourth-round submission and a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus.
From the opening bell, Hernandez set a relentless pace, overwhelming Dolidze with pressure and precision. Even in the early moments, when the fight was still competitive, Hernandez controlled the exchanges, by the midpoint of the first round, Dolidze looked out of place against the surging contender. Hernandez landed clean shots, dominated the grappling exchanges, and physically manhandled the veteran. The rear-naked choke that ended the bout in the fourth round was the final statement in an already lopsided fight.
“Khamzat doesn’t know what it is when people want to wrestle him,” Visser said on UFC 319 Countdown. “He’s only facing guys who are trying to get away from his wrestling. We don’t want to try to get away from his wrestling, we want to f*ck him up in his game.” The win not only extended Hernandez’s streak but also had him calling for a title shot in his post-fight interview.
The co-main event saw former flyweight title challenger Steve Erceg weather an early knockdown against Ode Osbourne. “Astro Boy” rallied, took control in the later rounds, and secured a unanimous decision win with scores of 29-28 across the board.
In addition to Hernandez, three other fighters walked away from UFC Vegas 109 with $50,000 bonuses for standout performances Christian Leroy Duncan earned his bonus with a brutal first-round TKO over Eryk Anders, Elijah Smith delivered a highlight-reel slam knockout against Toshiomi Kazama on the prelims, Joselyne Edwards flattened Priscila Cachoeira in the first round with a clean, fight-ending shot.
With dominant finishes, comeback victories, and highlight-reel knockouts, UFC Vegas 109 showcased fighters making their mark in emphatic fashion.
