Song Yadong secures guillotine, finishes Figueiredo in massive UFC Macau main event win. Top UFC bantamweight contender Song Yadong returned to China on Saturday May 30, where he faced former UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo in the main event of UFC Fight Night: Song vs. Figueiredo. The event took place at the Galaxy Arena in Macau, China.

Song entered the matchup as one of the UFC’s most dangerous strikers at 135 pounds. The 28-year-old most recently suffered a competitive decision loss against Sean O’Malley at UFC 324 earlier this year. Before that, Song earned a major victory over former UFC champion Henry Cejudo in a main event performance that boosted his ranking. Despite recent setbacks against elite contenders, Song remains one of the division’s most respected names because of his experience, durability, and constant aggression.

Standing across from him was one of the most accomplished lighter-weight fighters in UFC history, Deiveson
Figueiredo. The former two-time flyweight champion Figueiredo moved up to bantamweight looking for a fresh start after years of brutal battles at 125 pounds.. Figueiredo picked up a split-decision victory over Montel Jackson in October 11, 2025. He recently suffered a unanimous decision loss against undefeated contender Umar Nurmagomedov at UFC 324: Gaethje vs. Pimblett on January 24, 2026. Even with recent losses, Deiveson Figueiredo remains one of the UFC’s most respected veterans.

The opening round was competitive and tactical as both fighters spent time reading each other early. Figueiredo looked sharp from the start, using movement, feints, and quick counters to keep Song from fully settling into his striking rhythm. The Brazilian mixed in kicks and pressured forward at key moments, while Song remained patient and searched for openings. As the round progressed, Figueiredo appeared to edge the action with cleaner shots and stronger control of the exchanges. Song had moments of success, but the former champion looked comfortable and confident throughout much of the first five minutes.

Song Yadong came out much more aggressive in the second round, pushing the pace and landing sharp boxing combinations. His speed started giving Figueiredo problems, and the former champion was no longer as comfortable as he was in the opening round. As the action heated up, Figueiredo shot in for a takedown. During the scramble, Song quickly locked up a guillotine choke and squeezed tight. Figueiredo tried to fight his way out, but the choke was fully in.
With nowhere to go, Figueiredo tapped out at 4:42 of Round 2, giving Song Yadong a huge submission victory in front of his home crowd. “I don’t give a f*ck, I take whatever you guys give me,” Song said. “Let’s go!”

Fighting in front of a passionate Asian crowd, Song delivered a statement performance in front of a passionate home crowd. After a slow first round, he adjusted beautifully, increased the pressure, and capitalized the moment Figueiredo made a mistake. For Figueiredo, the loss marked another difficult setback in his bantamweight run. For Song, the victory over a former UFC champion could move him one step closer to another major contender fight in the stacked 135-pound division.
