Now, with his recovery complete, Topuria is back and already looking ahead to his next move.
“Final medical tests done. I’m back,” Topuria wrote on X. “To all the clowns who’ve been talking s**t and counting me out this whole time, here I am. Now let’s see who’s got the balls.
“Thanks to everyone for the support. Next time I’ll make sure they check Justin’s gloves so he doesn’t put anything weird on them. See you soon.”
The statement marked the first time Topuria publicly suggested that something may have been unusual about Gaethje’s gloves during their title fight. However, he did not provide any evidence to support the claim.
Gaethje captured the lightweight belt after surviving an intense back-and-forth battle and taking control in the later rounds. The American’s relentless pressure and damage eventually forced Topuria’s corner to wave off the fight before the fifth round.
With Topuria back and cleared to compete, attention has already shifted toward his next opponent.
