Conor McGregor believes his best days are still ahead of him as he prepares for his long-awaited return to the Octagon at UFC 329.
The former two-division UFC champion will face Max Holloway in the main event on July 11 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The highly anticipated rematch marks McGregor’s first fight in five years following the devastating leg injury he suffered in his trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier.
Despite the lengthy absence and a two-fight losing streak heading into the contest, Conor McGregor insists he is entering the prime of his career and remains motivated by the challenges that lie ahead.
“I feel there’s so much left for me to conquer in this game,” McGregor said.“So much more accolades. More belts, more knockouts, more records, more cash. I am taking everything of what I have built. The fight game in the combat sports world is McGregor’s world. And I’m in my prime here now. So it is on me now to go and show that. And that’s what I will do.”
After spending years on the sidelines recovering from injury and rebuilding his body, McGregor said he is grateful for the opportunity to compete again.
The Irish superstar described his return as a special moment and revealed that his motivation has never been higher.
“The Mac has a fight, hallelujah,” McGregor said.“The magnitude of this event is colossal. So it’s not hard to get motivated. And to remain disciplined, dedicated, all that is on the line here. And I am relishing it.”
“Another iconic mixed martial arts belt with yours truly at its helm. Working hard, same thing every day. With no ego, we leave our ego at the door. We’re learning, working our shots and preparing ourselves for main event slots here at Straight Blast Gym Ireland.”
The upcoming bout will mark the second meeting between Conor McGregor and Max Holloway. Their first encounter took place in 2013, with McGregor earning a unanimous decision victory during the early stages of both fighters’ UFC careers.
More than a decade later, McGregor believes he has evolved into a completely different fighter and expects to showcase that growth against Holloway.
“Holloway, I’ve faced him before,” McGregor said.“Took many lessons from that beating I gave him onward in his career. And then went on to do great things.”
“Now I love it because he’s fought so many men. And they’ve fought him a certain way, and it’s gone a certain way. So now returns McGregor to show once again the level and the difference. That’s it. It’s a masterpiece on July 11th. A McGregor masterpiece.”

While many regard him as one of the most naturally gifted fighters in MMA history, McGregor believes his achievements stem from relentless dedication rather than talent alone.
The former champion said his obsession with improvement continues to fuel him even after reaching the pinnacle of the sport.
“I am of the belief that there is no such thing as talent,” McGregor said.“What I possess, this is not talent. If you put in the time, you will reach your target. And that’s it. I’m not talented, I’m obsessed.”
“I’m a lot more experienced, but as well as that I’m a lot more skilled in all of the facets of martial arts. You do not want to be anywhere inside that octagon with me. I am dangerous everywhere.”
“I can knock you unconscious from everywhere inside that octagon. And that is what I plan to do.”
Max Holloway has remained active during McGregor’s absence, competing in several high-profile fights and capturing victories against some of the sport’s biggest names.
However, Conor McGregor believes the version of himself that steps into the cage at UFC 329 will be unlike anything Holloway has faced before.
“There’s a different animal entirely that is in front of Max Holloway here,” McGregor said.“And he’s gonna feel every bit of it.”
As fight night approaches, Conor McGregor remains as confident as ever. Whether he can back up his bold predictions after five years away from competition remains to be seen, but the former champion is convinced UFC 329 will mark the beginning of a new chapter in his storied career.
