EARLY LIFE

Marino Cutendana is an Angolan fighter whose fighting foundation style is Muay Thai. He began training in karate to be like his older brother, but his interest in MMA grew after watching Royce Gracie fight in UFC 1. Cutendana soon started training in traditional jiu-jitsu before meeting Demarte Pena, with whom he learned a few things about Muay Thai. The two created their own amateur MMA tournament before Cutendana went on to university and started training at the Undisputed Fight Club. The athlete has been in two amateur fights and ten professional bouts.

MMA CAREER

The fighter has competed in various tournaments, such as Godfather Productions, Nelspruit Fight Night, EFC Africa, and EFC Worldwide. His first amateur fight was against Sibelelo Swakile, and he destroyed the opponent with punishing blows that led to a TKO in the opening round. Lourens Botes was his next opponent, and he won this fight following a rear naked choke in the fifth round.

Cutendana had his first professional debut at EFC Africa, where he faced Matt Buirski and lost the battle following a unanimous decision. Next, he faced Craig Ninow and lost the fight following a triangle choke in round one. Afterward, he faced Sibulele Swekile and destroyed his opponent with a round of punches, which led to a TKO in round one. Later on, Cutendana fought Oumpie Sebeko and dominated him after locking him in a triangle choke during the opening round. Nelson Feiteira was his next opponent, and he defeated him following a split decision.

Afterward, he battled Jasen Van Der Merwe and destroyed his opponent after a barrage of punches led to a TKO in round one. Following this, he fought Baldwin Mdlalose and lost the fight after a TKO in round one. Next, he squared up against Martin De Beer and won after trapping his opponent in an armbar, leading to a round-one submission. He soon had a rematch against Beer, but he defeated his opponent again after the judges’ split decision. His last recorded fight was against Devon Cronje, and he lost the fight after a unanimous decision.
