Josh Hokit fires back after Alex Pereira questions his UFC future. Josh Hokit isn’t worried about Alex Pereira’s comments regarding his future in the UFC.

Earlier this week, Pereira raised eyebrows when he suggested that Hokit might not be with the promotion much longer. While discussing their ongoing feud ahead of UFC Freedom 250, the former two-division champion claimed he had “heard a thing or two” about Hokit’s future but declined to provide any details.

“Poatan.” Despite his calm demeanor, Pereira made it clear he’s not a fan of Hokit, telling reporters, “We can’t remove him out of the card on Sunday, he’s already in there, so he’s going to fight, but I’ve just heard a thing or two—I don’t even know if he’s going to be a part of this organization going forward. He’s going to fight, but I don’t know, I’ve heard some things here or there, maybe not even worth talking about because I don’t even know if he’s going to be there.”

Speaking during UFC Freedom 250 fight week, Hokit quickly dismissed Pereira’s remarks and made it clear that he isn’t concerned about his standing with the organization. “Pereira could say whatever,” Hokit said on an episode of UFC Freedom 250 Embedded. “When you put on a fight like how I put on last fight, I mean, I don’t think I’m going anywhere. I just signed an eight-fight contract as well, so he’s just talking just to talk.”

The tension between the two fighters has been building for months. Hokit has repeatedly targeted Pereira with trash talk, including at UFC press conferences and during fight week events. Their rivalry has generated plenty of headlines, with several heated exchanges taking place in public settings. Most recently, Pereira criticized Hokit’s behavior as disrespectful and hinted that the UFC might eventually grow tired of his antics. Hokit, however, appears convinced that his performances matter more than any controversy outside the cage.

Ironically, the back-and-forth may be doing exactly what rivalries are supposed to do. Both men are scheduled to compete at UFC Freedom 250, with Pereira challenging Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight title and Hokit facing Derrick Lewis in a pivotal heavyweight matchup. Victories for both fighters could bring them.

Alex Pereira may believe Josh Hokit’s UFC future is uncertain, but Hokit clearly disagrees, the rising heavyweight has no plans of going anywhere. If anything, the latest exchange only adds more fuel to a rivalry that continues to gain momentum.
