UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones recently pleaded guilty to misdemeanour charges in court. The fighter was recently charged with two misdemeanours after allegedly assaulting drug-testing agents who showed up at his house in March. Jones was asked to provide a urine sample, and when he couldn’t, he was given the alternative of a blood test, which he refused and got upset over.
One of the drug-testing agents, [Crystal Martinez] felt threatened by Jones’s behaviour and accused him of being intoxicated and aggressive. Since then, the agents have pressed charges and appeared before an online hearing on July 17th. Fortunately for him, the plea went in his favour.
The judge presiding over his case told Jones that he could not break any laws or possess any firearms/dangerous weapons, cannot consume alcohol, or consume any illegal drugs.
The ruling is highly favourable for the fighter, who has fought endlessly to clear his name from these allegations. Jones will appear in court on August 22 for a bench trial.
