Jiri Prochazka is owning up to a painful lesson after his shocking defeat at UFC 327.
In the main event, Prochazka looked on course to reclaim gold before everything unraveled in a split second. Facing Carlos Ulberg, Jiri Prochazka started strong and quickly realized his opponent was compromised after appearing to suffer a knee injury.
Instead of pressing the advantage, Jiri Prochazka hesitated. That moment changed everything.
Ulberg, backing up against the cage, found an opening and fired a devastating counter left hook that dropped Prochazka instantly. A few follow-up shots sealed the finish, handing Prochazka one of the most shocking losses of his career.
After the fight, Jiri Prochazka did not hide from the reality of what happened.
“F*ck, it happened,” Prochazka said. “I felt like [showing] mercy. In that fight I felt so sorry for him. This is one of the biggest lessons in my life. That fight was won. I had it. It was in my hand and I just let him because I saw his injury.”
Jiri Prochazka admitted that his decision to hold back ultimately cost him everything.
“Yes, that’s right [I showed mercy]. I will be back. Life is about that—learn and be better. Sorry for tonight.”
The moment has sparked heavy criticism across the MMA community, with many questioning why Jiri Prochazka did not capitalize on such a clear advantage. Despite Ulberg struggling to stand on one leg, Prochazka chose not to target the injury directly or mix in grappling to secure the finish.
Instead, he invited a firefight—and paid the price. Following the loss, Jiri Prochazka was taken to a local Miami hospital to assess his jaw. From there, he issued another emotional message, taking full responsibility and calling for a rematch.

“Thank you all for your support. Just checking the jaw here in the hospital,” Prochazka said. “Big apologies for my performance tonight. I still can’t understand this, my stupid mercy in the fight. That cost me this fight.”
“I would like to fight a rematch, because, man, that was my fight. That was my fight and I just gave him this opportunity to catch me. Big apologies to everyone who supports me.”
The defeat marks another setback for Jiri Prochazka in title fights, adding to previous losses against Alex Pereira.
It also raises questions about his decision-making in high-pressure moments, even as his fanbase continues to support his warrior mindset.
For now, Jiri Prochazka is left to reflect on a fight he believes he should have won.
