WWE star Bobby Lashley reveals he is open to combat sports opportunity if it presents itself.
The 48-year-old has had a good six-year run at the WWE and is ready to try his hands at other sports. The professional wrestler put on a good show during his time and won several titles. However, his time as an active member of the roster is over.
Despite his retirement from WWE, Lashley is still open to other career possibilities. He recently mentioned his interest in returning to combat sports.
“I’m doing it all,” Lashley told The Bo and Them Show in Dallas. “I look at it this way — first of all, YOLO, you only live once, but I have a lot of gas in the tank. I’m in great shape. I feel good. I’m motivated. I’m rested.”
Of course, Lashley is best known for his pro wrestling career, rising to prominence in 2005. However, the fighter has also proved his mettle as an MMA fighter.His MMA journey began in 2008 when he made his professional debut at the Mixed Fighting Alliance (MFA). Lashley became a force to be reckoned with, winning his first four fights via finishes.
In 2010, Lashley joined Strikeforce, where he suffered his first lone losses against Chad Griggs and James Thompson. The fighter did not let this deter him as he continued to compete in various regional promotions, showcasing his skills and building his reputation. He competed in promotions like Titan Fighting Championship, Shark Fights, and Bellator MMA, where he achieved notable victories.
While Lashley’s MMA career may have taken a backseat to his wrestling commitments in recent years, his accomplishments in the sport remain impressive.
“Wrestling, yes. Boxing, yes. MMA, yes. Acting, yes. Everything, yes. But I have a lot of different things going on right now.”
“A boxing company called me and offered me a legit matchup,” Lashley revealed. “So we’re in talks with them, so I’ve been training boxing. I love boxing. MMA is a possibility. Just depending on [what offers come].”
“Wrestling, I still want to wrestle,” Lashley said. “I love wrestling, and the fans write me everyday, ‘When are you coming back? Where are you going? I don’t care where you go, we. Wet to be there for you.’ So, I love the fans.”
Regardless of whether his transition into boxing or return to MMA comes to pass, Lashley isn’t giving up on professional wrestling. He’s now a free agent after leaving WWE.
