UFC welterweight Sean Brady says Ian Garry has been avoiding him since September, and the delays are starting to weigh on him.
Brady, who recently defeated Lerone Murphy, was slated to face Garry at the upcoming UFC Vancouver card. Instead, the fight fell through after Garry pulled out, leaving Anthony Hernandez and Reinier de Ridder to fill the card. Since calling out Ian Garry after his win over Gilbert Burns, the Philadelphia native revealed that he had accepted two separate dates to fight Garry, but the matchup never materialized.
“So I got a call from my manager right around International Fight Week, at the end of June, about me and Ian fighting in Chicago [at UFC 319],” Sean Brady said on his instagram stories. “I said yes. Didn’t hear anything for weeks. I’m assuming the UFC moved on. Recently, they hit us up and said me and Ian, the main event in Vancouver. I said yes immediately. Yes, let’s go. I’ve been wanting to fight since May and these are the only ones I’ve been offered. I said yes twice.
“Now, I don’t know why Ian’s f*cking dragging his feet or whatever he was doing and now they put in [Reinier de Ridder] and ‘Fluffy’ [Anthony Hernandez]. Now once again we’re sitting and waiting. So thanks Ian, just lost another main event because of you, my man.”
It remains uncertain if the UFC will rebook the fight, but Brady’s frustration is clear. He admitted he had his sights set on finally squaring off with Garry.

“I just think Ian thinks he’s God’s gift to earth, and he’s not. I feel like everyone in this sport feels the same way,” Brady said.
Sean Brady last competed in March, submitting former welterweight champion Leon Edwards to secure his third straight victory. Meanwhile, Garry picked up his own momentum by outdueling Carlos Prates in his most recent outing.
The UFC welterweight division is heating up, and Sean Brady doesn’t want to be left waiting on the sidelines. With momentum on his side, Brady is determined to prove himself against top contenders and whether Ian Garry accepts the challenge or not, the Philadelphia native seems ready to keep pushing toward a title shot.
