EARLY LIFE
The athlete is a member of the Nigerian Police Force and is one of the few Nigerian female MMA fighters competing on an international scale. Her rise to fame in combat sports came after winning the kickboxing world championship in 2018. She is an expert wrestler, kickboxer, and an affiliate of Gomez Jiu-jutsu. Young has been in three amateur fights and six professional bouts in her MMA career.
MMA CAREER
The internationally famed fighter has been in many MMA contests, including, KOTCH, I.E Fight Night, and the LFA series. Her first amateur bout saw her square up against Valerie Wong. But, she lost the round after a unanimous decision in the final round. Next, she faced Mikaela Carpenter and emerged victorious after assaulting her opponent with deadly jabs and strikes that led to a TKO in round two.
Her first pro-MMA debut was against Cynthia Arceo, but the match ended in a draw after an accidental eye poke in the final round. The opponents soon had a rematch, and Young showed her superior fighting skill by putting Arceo in a rear naked choke in the opening round. Her next match saw her face off Greece fighter Vanessa Demopoulos, but she lost after a unanimous decision in round three.
Next, she faced Reena Norville at LFA 94. The fight started with Young throwing some heavy punches but Norville fired back with deadly strikes of her own. Young followed with a leg kick, punches, and a right hand that saw Norville wobble. Norville responded with a leg kick and a right-hand punch. The two continued to dance around each other before Young landed a double right hand. The first dropped Norville and she immediately got back up but the second put her out of the fight,leaving Young victorious by TKO in the first round.
Soon after, she faced Kelly D’Angelo and destroyed her after delivering a round of body shots and head strikes that saw Angelo drop to the ground. Lastly. she went up against Brazillian fighter Jacqueline Amorim. Unfortunately she lost the fight after knee shot, leading to her submission in round one.
