The Sika Fighting Club [SFC] is an African MMA promotion that recently held its third MMA tournament on June 29th at Minna Event Center in Kano State, Nigeria. The SFC 003 featured exhilarating performances from MMA fighters from around Africa who came into the cage to display their talent and skills.


The opening fight of the SFC 003 was the featherweight battle between Gideon Emmanuel and David Ohis in the featherweight division. David came in with a few leg kicks before a takedown by Gideon. David had him in a headlock, but Gideon wrestled him into a full mount and peppered him with hard right-hand punches, but David flipped him and retaliated with his own strikes. Gideon went for a body lock, but his opponent landed a few body shots before being flipped. The two continued to wrestle with David, who managed a headlock before the round ended.


Round two began with leg kicks from both opponents before a spinning strike by David. Gideon soon took the fight to the ground with a takedown, where he hammered David with a ground pound, which led to a referee stoppage due to a TKO.


In the welterweight division, Nani Chima faced Mishael Akande. Michael came in with his guard up, but Nani swung long-range punches. Michael landed a head kick, but Nani responded with a left jab before closing the distance with a right jab and following up with an unsuccessful takedown that ended with a clinch. Mishael landed knee-to-body shots and tried a leg flip, but Nani remained on his feet till the round ended. The next round began with a missed high kick by Nani, but the two soon came together in a clinch against the cage. Nani landed some body shots and a left hook that connected with Mishael’s head.

The final round began with leg kicks, but Nani landed a leg right hook, and Mishael responded with a high kick. He slipped and dropped to the floor, where the two grappled on the canvas, but they were soon back on their feet in a clinch. They soon broke up and exchanged leg kicks, but Nani landed a right hook before the fight ended. Michal emerged victorious following a split decision win.


The next fight was a featherweight division battle between Godpower Cornelius and Victor Dooga. Dooga came in with leg kicks, but Cornelius went in for a takedown. Dooga had him in a headlock, but they soon got back on their feet. Godspower went for a body slam but still couldn’t break Dooga’s hold on him. They soon broke up and exchanged punches until the round ended. Round two saw both opponents coming in with savage punches, a right swing by Godspower, and a left jab by Dooga. Godspower landed a kick that fell Dooga, but he was soon back on his feet. Godspower landed a left-right combo, but Dooga retaliated with a left-hand punch. They went in for a clinch, but Dooga soon had Godspower in a headlock before going to the floor till the round came to a close.

Dooga came in with leg kicks and strikes in the last round, but Godspower attempted an unsuccessful takedown. Dooga went in for a sprawl and got on Godspower’s back, where he peppered him with headshots, but his opponent managed to get back on his feet and regain himself. The two continued to swing, with Dooga landing a right and a left jab, but Godspower soon went for another takedown, where the fight ended. Dooga emerged victorious following a unanimous decision.


The next bout on the flyweight fight card was the unanimous decision win of Prince Epere against Precious Edwin.


After this, Solomon Yakubu battled Aminu Idris in the flyweight division. The two came in with hard punches before a takedown by Aminu, who rained down hammer fists before Yakubu put him in a body lock. The two were soon back on their feet, exchanging savage punches, a left hook by Yakubu, and a hard overhand right by Aminu before a takedown by Aminu. He landed hard elbow shots and punches before getting on Aminu’s back and putting him in a rear naked choke that ended the fight.


The last bout on the main card of the night was a lightweight battle between Jeb Bitrus and Emmanuel Bulus. Both rivals came in with leg kicks before Jeb Junior’s takedown. Bulus had him in a headlock, but Jeb managed to land body shots before breaking free from the headlock and landing elbow shots and headshots that led to a referee stoppage, leaving Jeb the winner via TKO.
