UFC Seattle fight scrapped after debuting fighter fails drug test. A fight scheduled for UFC Seattle was canceled after a fighter tested positive for a banned substance ahead of the event. A highly anticipated fight at UFC Seattle has been cancelled after one of the scheduled competitors tested positive for a banned substance, her team announced on Thursday on social media.
Brazilian strawweight Carol Foro was removed from her bout after an out-of-competition drug test came back positive for a prohibited diuretic. She was set to face Stephanie Luciano at UFC Fight Night 271 in Seattle, Washington.
Foro earned her UFC contract in September 2025 after winning on Dana White’s Contender Series, and this fight was supposed to be her official debut in the promotion. However, the positive test result forced her to withdraw before fight week.

In a statement shared on social media, Foro said she did not knowingly take any banned substance. But she also admitted that the amount found in her system did not look like simple contamination. Because of that, her team has started a full investigation to understand how the substance got into her body.
“Carol did not knowingly or intentionally use the diuretic,” the statement read. “At the same time, we acknowledge that the quantities indicated in the result are not consistent with a typical scenario of trace accidental contamination, which reinforces the need for a thorough and careful technical investigation.”

The UFC quickly moved to keep the fight on the card by replacing Foro with Alexia Thainara, who will now face Luciano in Seattle. This situation shows how strict drug testing is in the UFC. Fighters are tested even when they are not in camp or close to fight night. A failed test can cost a fighter a big opportunity, especially someone making their debut.
For now, Foro’s UFC future will depend on the outcome of the investigation and any possible suspension that could follow.
