EARLY LIFE

Zwelibanzi Ngema is a skilled fighter who began his combat sports journey in 2010 to improve his mind and soul. The athlete soon took a liking to the sport and pursued it long-term. He started with wrestling before transitioning to karate, where he earned a brown belt. Ngema is a persistent fighter and a 1x champion of the MFC featherweight title. The fighter has been in six amateur fights and four professional battles.

MMA CAREER

Ngema began his amateur career at MFC South Africa, where he faced Andrew Caruth and lost. Next, he faced Jessie Fleming and suffered defeat yet again. Following this, he faced David Verster and lost after getting locked in an armbar. After this, Ngema battled Sheldon Cade Hughes and lost due to a unanimous decision. Warren Richards and Cameron Badenhorst were his next opponents, and he lost the fight.

The athlete made his professional debut at the Last Fighter Standing, where he faced Brian Dlamini and Warren Richards, but both matches were declared ineligible due to customs rules. After this, he faced Roevan De Beer. Beer came with swinging leg kicks before going for a takedown. He tried for a full mount, but Ngema wrestled his way up. Beer had him in a body lock, but he slipped through. Beer soon got on his back, but Ngema continued to swing his opponent until he finally got back on top of him. He tried to land some blows, but Beer held him tight. Beer soon had him in a body triangle, which Ngema tried to break through, but Beer had a firm grip and soon had him in a triangle choke.

Next, he faced Billy Oosthuizen, who lost the fight after an onslaught of punches led to a TKO in the third round. Soon after, Ngema faced Cameron Saaiman at EFC 84. The two came in with low-leg kicks. A flying kick by Saaiman saw Ngema back up against the cage, but he fought through and landed a hard right.

The two continued to exchange kicks, and Saaiman landed a one-two combo followed by savage leg kicks. Ngema landed a big right jab, and Saaiman responded with a high kick. He landed another kick that dropped Ngema, but he was soon back on his feet. Billy came in with a leg kick, but Ngema landed a hard left-right cross. They soon clinched up. Saaiman went in for a takedown and tried for a guillotine choke, but Ngema broke through. Saaiman soon got on his back and attempted a rear naked choke, but Ngema stayed in the fight till the round ended.

Round two began with leg kicks from Saaiman and hard punches but Ngema managed to block a few. Saaiman went for a takedown and Ngema tried for a head hook but Saaiman peppered him with elbow strikes to the head. The two continued to wrestle, Saaiman had him in a guillotine choke and flipped him but Ngema broke through. Saaiman got on his back and continued to hammer him with heavy ground and pound till a referee stoppage. His last recorded fight was against Stephan De La Rey where he lost following a knee strike in round one.
