EARLY LIFE

The Nigerian-Sweden athlete is a ferocious fighter and a beast in the cage. Wasiu Adeshina is currently ranked #10 of 48 active Nordic Pro Featherweights. The athlete has been in three amateur bouts and ten professional battles.

MMA CAREER

Adeshina is a tough competitor and has contested in different MMA tournaments like IRFA, and AK Fighting Championship at amateur level. After this, he competed at Brave CF, Zone Pro League Fight Club Rush (FCR). Cage Warriors and Cage 59 during his professional career.

His amateur debut was against Tobias Soderberg but he lost this fight after suffering a heavy ground pound in round one. Next, he faced Mario Markus and lost this match following an armbar in the first round. Adeshina met up with his old opponent Soderberg at his last amateur bout but unfortunately was unable to redeem himself and lost the round following a unanimous decision.

After three consecutive losses at the amateur level, Adeshina made his professional debut at Brave CF 38. He suffered another defeat at the hands of PK Zadeh. He got another chance to face Markus but lost the battle following an illegal knee strike in round one. Adeshina’s luck soon went up when he had his first FRC debut and faced Eryk Walecki. He won the fight after a unanimous decision in round three.

Soon after, he faced Sakhi Qambari and won the fight after conquering his opponent via ground pound in round two. Next, he went head-on against Robert Nystrom and emerged victorious in the battle, after a knockout in round one. Successively, he faced Glenn McVeight at the main card event for FCR 15 and won the match following a unanimous decision.
Next, he faced Irish fighter Decky McAleenan at Cage Warriors, Featherweight division. The opponents tested each other’s defenses before Adeshina clinched and backed McAleenan to the cage, but his opponent reversed the position. Adeshina went in for a takedown, but McAleenan remained undeterred and tried for a reverse triangle choke. The two continued grappling, but McAleenan went for an arm bar before kicking Adeshina off and getting to his feet. The rivals clinched up again, but McAleenan went for a takedown and saw Adeshina on top. McAleenan performed an armbar lock, leading to Adeshina’s first-round submission.

Subsequently, he faced Jon Furuheim at cage 59. Adeshina came in with a jab and a kick, which Furuheim responded to with an uppercut before the two clinched up. Furuheim went for a takedown, but Adeshina got back on his feet with Furuheim on his back. The opponents backed up against the cage and continued to struggle, but Furuheim went for another takedown and remained on Adeshina’s back to perform a body triangle. They separated and delivered hard kicks and jabs. The rivals continued to struggle and land vicious punches, but in the end, Adeshina emerged victorious after a thrilling unanimous decision.


Later on, he faced Henrique Madureira and won the match after a flurry of punches leading to a TKO in round one. His last recorded fight was against Luka Giorgadze and he defeated his opponent via unanimous decision.
