ufc vegas 100: magny vs prates

The UFC Vegas 100 took place at UFC Apex, Las Vegas, and it was a night to remember.

In the main event of UFC Vegas 100, Carlos Prate defeated Neil Magny with a first-round knockout in their welterweight bout. The Brazilian’s win is his fourth knockout since his UFC debut. Magny came into the cage with a lot of energy and enthusiasm, but he was soon dropped after Prates landed a heavy left to his temple that knocked Magny out. Following his win, Prates called out Jack Maddelena for his next fight.

In the co-main event, former ONE Championship fighter Reiner De Ridder made a stellar debut as he submits Gerald Meerschaert in an impressive middleweight bout.

The UFC Vegas 100 was a night to remember for Ridder, who submitted Meerschaert, who has the most records for UFC submissions. The fight began with an early striking exchange, but Ridder soon scored a takedown. It looked like the former ONE champion was getting the upper hand, but Meerschaert pulled through and got back on his feet. The two continued to trade blows, with Ridder scoring body shots and Meerschaert landing stuff jabs.

Meerschaert managed to land a lead jab, but Ridder got into his Alsace and landed an elbow that dropped him to the canvas before the opening round came to a close. Ridder went into the second round with more confidence and soon had Meerschaert on the floor in a D’arce choke, but his opponent managed to slip through and gain the upper hand.

Try as he might, Meerschaert couldn’t get into Ridder’s defense. Ridder soon scored a couple of takedowns before he finally landed the deciding takedown and choke that led to a tapout by Meerschaert in the third round.

“I think Gerald Meerschaert’d Gerald Meerschaert so thank you Gerald,” de Ridder joked about tapping out a fellow submission specialist in his UFC debut. “It was my first one here so I wanted to show some good stuff.”
