UFC Denver featured a plethora of amazing fights including the main event flyweight battle between Rose Namajunas and Tracy Cortez. The tournament took place at the Ball Arena, Denver, Colorado. and was a night to remember.

The fight was Cortez’s debut as the UFC headliner and she put up a good fight but she lacked equal experience with Namajunas. The showdown was an impressive one with Namajunas scoring an early hit after dropping Cortez to the floor. The former strawweight had a speed advantage the moment she came into the cage. She launched a series of straight punches at Cortez who wasn’t strong with her defenses. She continued to hammer Cortez with stiff jabs and landing takedowns that Cortez couldn’t respond to on time.

The ex-champ landed a hook that took her opponent to the floor where she followed through with savage strikes to finish the fight but she was unsuccessful and was soon back on her feet.

Cortez managed to get her act together in the second round and was able to land a couple of strikes. She soon found an opportunity for a takedown and took it. Namajunas put up a hell of a fight and the two were soon back on their feet. Although Cortez seemed more confident in this round Namajunas still had more fuel in her tank and she landed a combination before sneaking in a takedown. She continued to out-strike and out-grapple Cortez on the canvas. She remained in full mount while Cortez tried to wriggle free but Namajunas gave her no leeway.

The final two rounds were filled with a brutal exchange from both sides but Namajunas managed to always come out on top. She launched long-distance strikes to which Cortez responded with savage strikes. Try as she might, Cortez couldn’t land a devastating blow and kept having to fend off Namajunas relentless attacks and keg kicks till the bout came to an end.

After a tough battle, Namajunas emerged victorious with a unanimous decision win which she believed was well deserved. The fighter seems to be in the high-rise and continues to work her way to the top of the ranks. She is very confident of her abilities as a fighter and would like to add another belt to her collection. “Give me the belt, I want it. Maybe a women’s BMF. I don’t know.”
