UFC heavyweight interim champ Jon Jones has kept fans in suspense over a possible unification bout with Tom Aspinall however, it seems it might be happening sooner than we think.
The interim champion, Aspinall, has long called for a unification bout with Jones, but the former champ has been reluctant and has avoided stepping into the cage with the Brit. Some believe Jones might be scared of the fight, while others feel he has nothing left to prove by facing an up-and-comer.
A bout between the heavyweight stars makes all the sense in the world on paper, but Jones has publicly dismissed the matchup, claiming Aspinall isn’t deserving of the fight. Whatever the case may be, the fight appears to already be in motion behind the scenes, and it’s only a matter of time before the two step into the octagon.

Aspinall recently said he’s “very optimistic” about the UFC’s plans for him but he is unsure whether that involves Jones or not. A fight between Jones and Aspinall is arguably the biggest one the UFC can make right now. And while it has seemed like a long shot at times, Aspinall is now teasing big news.
“I know everyone wants fight news,” Aspinall said in a video posted to his YouTube channel. “But I do know what’s happening. I have been sworn to secrecy for a little bit, so stay tuned.
There will be news coming, hopefully very soon.”
There’s still no comment from Jones, but fans are excited and can’t wait to hear what the latest update on the bout will be.
