Pimblett and Chandler

Paddy Pimblett’s boasts rang true as he scored another win to solidify his undefeated title in the lightweight division at UFC 314.

For the first major fight in his career, Paddy Pimblett scored a brutal finish at UFC 314 over Michael Chandler. Pimblett came into the cage guns blazing with savage leg kicks, but Chandler responded with heavy strikes and a takedown. Pimblett tried to get up and landed a couple of headshots and a triangle but was unsuccessful. The two soon got back on their feet, exchanging blows and strikes until the round ended.

Pimblett started strong again in round two with a series of shots, but Chandler landed a pair of takedowns and attempted a ground and pound. Pimblett got back on his feet. Chandler got on Pimblett’s back and tried for a triangle, but Pimblett reversed the position, rained down elbow shots, and attempted an arm triangle choke until the round came to an end.

Pimblett entered the third round with a flying knee and a flurry of shots before taking the fight to the mat, where he went in for a ground and pound. Chandler couldn’t keep his defenses up, and the referee had to stop the fight due to a TKO.

The win was well deserved for Pimblett, but not everyone seemed to think so, as the fighter got into an altercation with Colby Covington, who questioned Pimblett’s performance in the octagon. Pimblett described the incident on the ESPN post-event show.

“Oh yeah, this little maggot,” Pimblett said. “He only does something when there’s a camera about. I’ve seen him at Power Slap the other week and walked past him, staring at him, and he looked at the floor like that. Now, he knows there’s a camera about. He walked past, so I just said, ‘Lad, I’ll come and slap you, but you’ll go and ring the police on me like you did with Masvidal, you little grass [snitch].’”

“He can eat shit,” Pimblett said. “He pays supermodels to stand with him, the f*cking bum. He’s a nobody. He’s on a three-fight losing streak or something—he’s irrelevant. He’s trying to use me now to stay relevant because he’s a nobody, he’s a bum. I’d beat Colby Covington for a laugh, but I’ve got bigger fish to fry than that little mushroom.”

Despite the hate, Pimblett remains unconcerned with what naysayers have to say, as he has his sight set on the title and hopes that’s what his next fight will be heading toward.
