Africa has produced several fighters who have developed a love for standing and trading with their opponents. From flying punches to heavy ground-and-pound, these fighters have rocked the cage with some spectacular knockouts.
Jean Dos Santos
Starting off strong is Jean Dos Santos, who holds the record for the fastest KO in AKO history. The Benin Republic fighter is known for his flashy style and has consistently delivered spectacular performances whenever he steps into the cage. One of his most memorable performances came against Jubril Inuwa, where Dos Santos produced a spectacular finish that left the audience reeling.
While the fighter is also known for his expert grappling skills, he is never afraid to keep the fight on the feet and test his striking against his opponents. Dos Santos has also recorded impressive submission victories throughout his career, including a TKO win over Baillot at ARES 21.
Venatius “Vuga the Great” Iyinagolu
Nigerian fighter Venatius “Vuga the Great” Iyinagolu is a powerhouse whenever he steps into the cage. The fighter is known for his aggressive style and his ability to keep the punches coming from the opening bell.In his bout against Melvin Ugochukwu, Vuga had his opponent stumbling after landing a vicious one-two combination that ended the fight in the first round.
He also faced Israel Mano, winning the bout by unanimous decision. Even without a finish, Vuga remained on the front foot throughout the fight, constantly landing shots and keeping his opponent under pressure.
Xavier Boa Adams
Xavier “The Beast” Boa Adams is another African fighter with serious power in his hands. The fighter stays composed and keeps his guard up, but when he lets his hands go, the results can be devastating. Adams showed exactly what he could do against Melvin Ugochukwu, needing just one clean shot to send the Nigerian fighter crashing to the canvas.
He produced another impressive knockout against Dennis Johnson, landing a clean one-two combination that dropped his opponent almost instantly.
Manel Kape
Manel Kape has never been afraid to stand and trade. The Angolan-born UFC flyweight is one of the most dangerous strikers in the division, with speed, timing and serious fight-ending power. Kape delivered another highlight-reel finish against Kyoji Horiguchi at UFC Fight Night. After spending much of the fight searching for an opening, Kape found his moment in the third round, landing a crushing right hand before following up with ground strikes to force the stoppage.
The victory also avenged Kape’s previous loss to Horiguchi and added another knockout to his growing résumé.
The former Rizin champion has built a reputation for spectacular finishes. Before facing Horiguchi, Kape recorded knockout victories over Brandon Royval and Asu Almabayev.
Oumar “Reug Reug” Kane
Oumar Kane, better known as “Reug Reug,” brings a completely different kind of danger into the cage. The Senegalese heavyweight combines physical strength and raw knockout power to overwhelm his opponents. Kane has built his reputation by putting constant pressure on his opponents and using his strength to dictate where the fight takes place.
His title-winning victory over Anatoly Malykhin in ONE championship was one of the biggest wins of his career, while his victory over elite grappler Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida further showed what he can do against top-level opposition.
What makes Reug Reug particularly dangerous is his ability to turn a fight around in an instant. Whether he is slamming opponents to the canvas or unloading heavy punches on the feet, the Senegalese heavyweight always carries enough power to end a fight.
