EARLY LIFE
Simon Biyong began his MMA career at the age of 25. The fighter initially started out as a basketballer but he took interest in MMA shortly after traveling to Italy to pursue a degree in art. Since his transition into MMA, the Cameroonian athlete has been a two-time championship at the Slam FC light heavyweight division. He is currently ranked #3 in Italy pro-light heavyweight and #60 worldwide.
The formidable athlete is not only a fighter with the heart of a lion but also has a soft side, which he showcases in his love for painting and designs. Biyong has participated in one amateur contest and twelve professional MMA bouts.
MMA CAREER
“Hemle” is a dominating presence when he steps into the cage and has a long winning streak. He has competed in MMA competitions such as Venator FC, Italy Regional, Lugano in the Cage, Slam FC, Luctor Cage Fight, NOVA FC 1, EFC Worldwide, RIZIN 20, Bellator, and PFL 2.
Biyong made his amateur debut at Venator FC, where he faced Gabriel Cronemberger and won after multiple punches led to a TKO in round one. After this fight, the athlete moved on to the professional scene, where he battled Ihab El Romani and won.
Next, he faced Italian fighter Gennaro Micillo and won the fight after a unanimous decision. His next opponent was Shad Azabany and yet again he defeated his opponent. Biyong’s early winning streak soon came to an end when he faced Ernesto Papa and lost the fight after a rear naked choke in round one led to his submission..He soon got his groove back when he faced Fabio Russo and TKOed his opponent after a barrage of savage strikes.
Following this, he faced Sead Kahrovic at NOVA FC 1, catchweight division. He came in with a vicious right hand and backed his opponent to the cage, but the referee separated them. They clinched up, but Biyong went in for a takedown, savage ground pound, and hammer fist, but Kahrovic managed to slip through. Biyong soon mounted him again and landed some heavy ground pound before the referee called off the match, making Biyong the winner via TKO.
Subsequently, Biyong made his EFC debut against Quintin Rossouw. The rivals feinted a few times in the opening round but Rossouw went for a spinning kick but Biyong threw a punch. Rossouw went for a sprawl and got on Biyong’s back. He went in for a choke but Biyong broke through and mounted before going for a ground pound. The rivals continued to wrestle but Biyong scored more hits. The two sprawled again and Rossouw went in for a takedown but Biyong did not relent. He continued to look to throw punches till the round ended.
Round began with a hail mary takedown by Rossouw but Biyong countered and fully mounted and hammered him with punches. He landed a few punches and a big elbow strike that knocked out Rossouw. Biyong took home the light heavyweight championship after this win.
Soon after he squared off against Russian fighter Vitaly Shemetov and won the fight after a TKO in round two. Later on, he fought Christian Edward and lost after a unanimous decision. His next opponent was Luke Trainer and he defeated his rival via unanimous decision.
Afterwards, he faced Dragos Zubco and destroyed his opponent after a ground-and-pound in round two. His last recorded match was against Jose Augusto, and he lost the battle following a unanimous decision.
