UFC fighter Nate Diaz is pretty pleased with the BMF title tournament, but the fighter is not thrilled about the names on the fight card.

Dustin Poirier has been out of the cage since his loss to Islam Makhachev in June. However, the fighter is back and has brought the idea of a one-night tournament fight involving himself, Justin Gaethje, Dan Hooker and current titleholder Max Holloway.

Although fans welcomed the idea, Diaz feels there are two names who shouldn’t be on the list: Poirier and Gaethje, which he stated to UFC CEO Dana White. To be fair, Diaz has had beef with Poirier for years. The two were scheduled to fight at UFC 230 in 2018, but Poirier withdrew due to an injury.

“@DanaWhite Dan [Hooker] and Max [Holloway] are eligible for my belt.” Nate Diaz wrote on his Instagram story, responding to Dustin Poirier’s recent comments. “But get those other [two] nerds out of there they don’t fit the description.”

Since fighting out his UFC contract, Diaz has competed twice in the boxing ring — losing a decision to Jake Paul in August 2023 and defeating Jorge Masvidal via majority decision in July. Diaz and Masvidal battled for the inaugural BMF title in November 2019 in the main event of UFC 244, where Masvidal earned the win via doctor’s stoppage TKO.
