Michael Chiesa couldn’t have scripted a better ending to his career. Fighting in front of a home crowd at UFC Seattle, Chiesa delivered a flawless performance, submitting Niko Price in just over a minute before laying his gloves down in the Octagon for the final time.
Chiesa landed one strike, secured one takedown, and locked in one submission. That was all he needed. The rear-naked choke forced the tap, sealing a perfect ending to a long and respected run in the UFC.
“This week has been incredible,” Chiesa said. “It’s been surreal and it just cements my retirement. It doesn’t get better than this. Just this entire week, and then everything that happened in the fight and the way it happened.”
Michael Chiesa had already made it clear heading into the fight that win or lose, this would be his last walk to the cage. But the way it played out felt almost too perfect — a dominant finish, in front of his people, with nothing left to prove.
Still, it wasn’t all emotion in the moment. Chiesa stayed locked in.
“Do I wish I stopped and soaked it up a little bit? Maybe,” he admitted. “But I had a fight to deal with. It was best I just stayed focused and approached it like every other fight.”
That focus paid off. The victory marked his fourth straight win, with three of those coming by rear-naked choke — a signature weapon that defined the final stretch of his career.
While Michael Chiesa is stepping away from MMA competition, he isn’t walking away from combat sports entirely. Grappling events remain on the table, and his growing presence as a UFC analyst continues to take shape.
“This is the end,” Chiesa said. “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Michael Chiesa leaves the sport on his own terms, with momentum, clarity, and a picture-perfect finish that fighters rarely get to experience.
