Jake Paul is stepping back into the ring on December 19 in Miami, taking on former two-time heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua in what many already call the biggest mismatch of 2025.
To make things “fairer,” Paul added a weight cap: Joshua cannot weigh more than 245 pounds at the official weigh-in. There’s no rehydration clause, so Joshua can bulk back up by fight night. Still, Joe Rogan believes this move only makes Joshua even more dangerous.
“Listen, kids, it ain’t gonna matter,” Rogan said when reacting to Paul’s weight restriction. “There’s not a chance that Anthony Joshua is not going to just lose the weight beforehand. He’s not gonna come in drained. What he’s going to do is just do extra cardio, and that’s just gonna make him more dangerous. He’s gonna be terrifying.”

Rogan didn’t stop there. The UFC commentator warned Paul that he may have made things personal.
“He’s gonna be very angry that Jake Paul wants to fight him. Very upset that this YouTuber…” Rogan said, before painting the grim picture. “That right hand, if it hits you, you are f—-! This is a giant, Olympic gold medalist heavyweight… one-punch nuclear power. He’s a specialist at putting knuckles through your f—- brain, and that’s what he’s gonna try to do to Jake Paul.”
As the Netflix-streamed fight approaches, Rogan admitted he will absolutely be watching.
“Realistically, it’s one of the craziest propositions of all time,” Rogan said on The Joe Rogan Experience. “You take a guy who just had a boxing match that looked like a sparring match with a 58-year-old Mike Tyson, and then you’re gonna fight one of the absolute scariest knockout artists in the heavyweight division? I’ll watch. I’m definitely gonna watch. So he’s got me there.”
Paul brings a 12–1 record into the fight, with wins over names like Nate Diaz, Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley, Mike Perry, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., and Mike Tyson. However, none of them hit like Joshua.
Joshua, remains one of the most decorated heavyweights of this era. He may be coming off a knockout loss to Daniel Dubois, but he’s still one of the most dangerous punchers alive, and Joe Rogan believes Jake Paul just poked the bear.
