Former ONE strawweight champion Jarred Brooks is well known for his crazy antics. He becomes a whole other person when he grabs a microphone. The fighter recently spoke about how emotional he gets in the cage.

‘The Monkey God’ is known for his intense promos and spirited persona. Brooks usually gets all riled up and aggressive during the weeks leading up to the fight. By the time he gets into the cage, he is almost ready to explode. The fighter has a 4-1 record in the ONE Championship, with his only defeat stemming from a disqualification loss at ONE 166, where he gave up the belt to Joshua Pacio.

In a recent interview, the fighter about his intense promos and how he managed to stay true to himself:

“I’m emotional, bro. Fighters are emotional. Some fighters don’t know how to express that. And it’s either their biggest downfall or their biggest ally in a fight. But I would rather be straight in the open.

“Yeah, you have to. If you push yourself into a corner with your emotions, then you’re not going to be able to strive for greatness at the end of the day. Because, like I said, you’re holding yourself back, and you’re taking away from what you’re supposed to be. If you’re not truthful to yourself, then how are you going to be truthful to people that you love and people that you want to admire you? Right.”

Brooks is set to capture the ONE Championship gold when he faces former Cuban Olympian ‘El Gladiator’ Gustavo Balart in the main event on ONE Fight Night 24.
