EARLY LIFE



Jane Osigwe, popularly known as ‘The Slayer,’ is a 19-year-old Nigerian MMA fighter who hails from Owerri, Imo state. She is a graduate of Imo State University, Owerri and currently resides in Port Harcourt. Following her gradation, she has been making rounds in the combat sports community. Osigwe has competed against other formidable opponents and won multiple tournaments.

Before her MMA career, Jane started as a trainer and gym instructor in her hometown. She spent some time watching MMA fighters fighters and her fellow gym enthusiasts in the boxing ring before deciding to pursue a career in the mixed martial arts world. Coming at 135 LBS/59.87kg, theupcoming MMA fighter has competed in a few local fights but made her way into the combat sports limelight in 2021.

Since then, she has participated in one amateur fight and five professional bouts, making her total fights count six. The athlete has squared up against older and more experienced fighters but has never backed down and shows promise in her rising career.


MMA CAREER



‘The Slayer’ is one of the youngest members of African Top Team Nigeria and is also the first female representative of the team. The fighter has participated in Dynamic Fighting Competition [DFC MMA] and African Knockout [AKO]1, 2, 3 where she competed in different fight titles like “FaceOff” fight night.

The athlete competed in an amateur fight at WSC 7, where She faced off with Juilet Chukwu aka ‘Warrior Woman’ in the welterweight division. She lost after three rounds in a split decision. Again, Jane faced her long-standing rival, Juliet Chukwu, in a riveting battle at the AKO2 Bantamweight division but lost in round three after a unanimous decision.

After this, she competed in a bout against Chi Attoh at the DFC 7 African MMA flyweight division. Her face- off with Attoh in FOFN2 was the first-ever female televised fight in Nigeria. Unfortunately, she was defeated again by unanimous decision after the third round.


Fortunately, Jane Osigwe’s luck change in AKO1, where she battled Esther Ayodele, aka ‘Rugged Queen’ in the Bantamweight division. After a series of blows and kicks, Jane delivered a TKO in the first round of the three-round fight, following an early submission by Esther that led to her victory.

Following her rising luck, Jane Osigwe squared off against a formidable opponent, 28-year-old Cameroonian fighter Kengni Reine Kevine. The match took place at the FOFN3, flyweight division. In the opening round, jane came in hot witha furing of spinning strikes and jabs followed by a takedown where she delivered hammer fists and heavy ground pound. Kevine could not handle these fast strikes and suffered a TKO in round 2.
