EARLY LIFE
Gian Souza is a skilled fighter who is an expert in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and kickboxing. He is ranked #151 in Brazil’s pro bantamweights and #6 in South Africa’s pro bantamweights. He has had eleven professional fights.
MMA CAREER
The fighter debuted at Potiguar Combat and defeated his opponent, Jean dos Santos Alves. Next, he faced Fabio Conceicao at GFC and won the fight after an arm triangle choke in round one. Afterward, he battled Flavio Henrique Mafra at Rio Grande do Norte Regional and won the match. Later, he squared off against Iallem Sousa at Brazil Regional and won. Next, he defeated his rival Edmar Cruz at Bravassu MMA.
Following this, he battled Mikelle Bragatto and won the match after a round of punches led to a TKO in the opening round. Afterward, he faced Pedro Barbalho at the Macaiba Fight and won the match after hammering his opponent with punishing blows that led to a TKO in round two. Later, he suffered a split decision loss at the hands of Luthando Biko at EFC 86. Next, he battled Nkazimulo Zulu at EFC Fight Night 2, but the fight ended in a draw.
Subsequently, he squared off against Nicholax Hwende for the EFC Worldwide Interim Bantamweight Championship. Hwende came in with hard kicks and a savage left swing before a takedown by Souza. He held on for an arm triangle, but Hwende had other ideas and held him close for a bodyslam before round one ended. Hwende came in with body kicks in round two. Souza managed to land some punches, but Hwende kept him at arm’s length with leg kicks. Next, he faced Adrian Silva, but the match was declared a no-contest. He soon got a rematch and dominated Silva after a barrage of blows led to a TKO in round one.
