Former UFC welterweight Alex Garcia has landed in serious legal trouble following a major drug raid in Canada.

According to a report from CTV News, Montreal police confirmed that Garcia was one of three people arrested after the anti-gang unit seized a large cache of illegal drugs and weapons. Authorities recovered 102 grams of cocaine valued at approximately $1.7 million USD ($2.3 million CAD), along with 20 liters of gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB), nearly five kilograms of heroin, $306,000 in cash, three firearms, and two vehicles.

“Launched in July 2025, this criminal investigation revealed that the Toronto area was being used as a supply source and that the drugs were then being resold at a higher price in Greater Montreal,” police said in a statement obtained by CTV News.

Police also arrested Michele Laddaga, 49, and Victor Julio Sanchez Medrano, 45, in connection with the case. Authorities are reportedly still searching for two additional suspects, Rattana Sem, 40, and Véronique Plouffe, 37, who remain at large.

Alex Garcia, whose full name is Lenin Billy Garcia Ciriaco, competed 10 times inside the UFC Octagon, finishing his promotional run with a 5-5 record. During his career, Garcia faced notable names such as Sean Strickland, Neil Magny, and Tim Means. The 38-year-old last fought professionally in 2020 before stepping away from the sport.

Garcia and Sanchez Medrano now face charges related to drug trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime, according to the report. Laddaga is facing charges tied to drug trafficking and possession.

The arrest marks a stark and troubling turn for Alex Garcia, once known in MMA circles as “The Dominican Nightmare,” whose post-fighting life has now drawn the attention of law enforcement rather than fight fans.
