EFC 128

EFC 128 was a night of ambitious takedowns and consequences from bell to bell. In the main event, Ken “The Takeover” Sekeletu stepped in over the limit at the weigh-ins, meaning he was automatically disqualified from ever winning the interim title. Only Billy “The Kid” Oosthuizen could become interim champ, no matter what happened in the cage, but the fighter still put his best foot forward.

From the jump, Sekeletu came out aggressive, pushing forward, throwing combinations, trying to make it a firefight before Oosthuizen could get comfortable. Oosthuizen, knowing the rules were stacked in his favor, was methodical, landing counter-shots, body attacks, probing for openings rather than overextending.

In Round two, the flow changed with Sekeletu focusing more on scoring a hit while Oosthuizen bided his time, testing feints and head movement. It all unravelled in round three when Sekeletu landed repeated strikes to the back of Oosthuizen’s head, more than what the ref would tolerate. The ref called for disqualification, leaving the belt and title of interim champion to Oosthuizen, but the crowd and commentators were unsatisfied with this prediction as it didn’t feel earned.

In the co-main of EFC 128, Siyaku “The Chef” Dumiso battled it out with JT Botha in a knockout war. They opened with Botha pushing forward, trying to muscle Dumiso into exchanges, but Dumiso stayed elusive, using angles, circling out, mixing in leg kicks to keep Botha honest.

Botha had his moments, forward pressure, half-step counters, looking for that one big shot. However, Dumiso’s composure was the story. He defended takedown attempts, avoided traps, and layered combinations in the later rounds when Botha’s pace wavered.

When the final horn sounded, the judges called a unanimous decision win for Dumiso.
