EFC 118

The EFC118 tournament, which took place in Johannesburg, South Africa, featured a host of exhilarating fights and takedowns. A bout between Roets and Zwane headlined it.


The fight began with a couple of quick takedowns by Roets, but Zwane soon recovered in the third round. Zwane delivered quick jabs and punches, but it was already too late, as Roets had already gained a large advantage. The bout ended with a unanimous decision win for Roets.


In the co-main event, Cole Henning battled former champion Van Staden and gave him a round two TKO. Peace Nguphane defeated Jason Culverwell in the welterweight division and ascended the rankings.

The Ga Mashie Hall hosted the Impact MMA Championship 4 on Saturday, October 12. The event featured fighters from seven countries: Ghana, Belarus, Nigeria, Togo, Uganda, Kenya, and Senegal.


In the main card, Faith Chidinma faced Kenyan fighter Muhgu Felicia. The two clinched up as the fight began, but they soon separated and exchanged heavy punches. Felicia went in for a takedown, but Faith went in for a body lock. Felicia managed to break through the lock and proceeded to pepper Faith with heavy ground and pound, which led to a referee stoppage in the first round.


Next, Nigerian fighter Eniola Busari faced Rebecca Amongi. Eniola began the round with high kicks, but Rebacca went in for a takedown. She managed to get on Eniola’s back and wrestled her into a rear naked choke, but Eniola broke through. The two soon got back on their feet, but Rebecca went in for another takedown and tried for a ground pound before the round came to an end. The two clinched up early in round two, with Rebecca landing some heavy head and knee shots.

The two continued in their clinch, with Rebecca landing more devastating blows b=till the round came to an end. The third round began with another clinch before a separation. Rebecca landed a high kick before going for a takedown and a body lock. She soon got on Eniola’s back and tried for another choke but was unsuccessful. Rebecca Amongi emerged victorious via unanimous decision.


Afterwards, Devra Seck faced Joseph Bonane. Seck came in hot with a leg kick before a body slam. The two wrestled on the canvas, and Seck wrestled Bonane into submission via body triangle. Emmanuel Nwanekwu faced Charles Lamptey. The two came in with aggressive jabs and strikes before a clinch-up. Both tried for a takedown but were unsuccessful.

Emmanuel soon scored a takedown, but Charles held him in a body lock and reversed his position before the round came to an end. Emmanuel came in strong in round two and went in for a takedown before Pummeling Charles with a ground and pound that led to a TKO in the second round.

The next matchup was a slugfest between Nigeria fighter Jubril Baba and Ugandan fighter Larry Mukibi. The two clinched up in the opening round but soon went into a sprawl. Mukibi had Baba in a headlock and soon reversed position and stayed on top, where he landed some heavy headshots before the first round came to an end. The second round began with both opponents swinging wild punches before a takedown by Baba.

They remained in a body lock, but Baba found wiggle room and landed some headshots before Mukibi had him in the lock again. Baba went in for another takedown in round three and landed elbow shots. The two continued to exchange blows, with Mukibi landing heavy elbow shots and opening a cut on Baba’s left eye before the fight came to an end, resulting in a split decision win for Jubril Baba.


In the Co-main event, Nigerian fighter Juliet Chuwku faced Belarus fighter Lilian Kazak. The two fighters came with cautious footwork, but Kazak made the first move with a leg kick, and Chjukwu responded with a one-two-combo. Chukwu landed a leg kick and a left hook, but Kazak retaliated with a left-right combo. Kazak held on to Chukwu’s leg after a kick, but the Nigerian broke through it.

They soon clinched up and tried to score a hit before the round came to an end. Kazak attempted to score a takedown in round two, but Chukwu broke through and landed a straight jab that left Kazka bleeding. Kazak landed a straight punch and a jab, but Chukwu kept coming. The two continued to exchange punches and kicks till the round came to an end. The final round went almost the same, with both opponents exchanging blows. In the end, Chukwu won the fight by unanimous decision.


Headlining the event was the battle between Douhadje and Emmanuel Lamptey. Lamptey went in for a takedown in the opening round and tried for an armbar, but Douhadje was back on his feet and had Lampety in a headlock. His opponent landed multiple head strikes, and the two were soon sprawled before getting back on their feet. Both fighters were quickly in a clinch, but Lamptey continued to land heavy shots but landed a foul blow that dazed his opponent before the referee called for a respite.

The fight continued with Lapmtey landing leg kicks. They continued exchanging punches, but Douhadje went in for a takedown. Lamptey gained the upper hand and hammered his opponent with heavy ground and pound before the referee’s stoppage.
