Dustin Poirier continues to deal with the fallout from his public intoxication arrest, and one of the biggest consequences has already hit his wallet.
The former UFC interim lightweight champion revealed that Bud Light immediately terminated its sponsorship agreement with him after his arrest last month at an Atlanta airport. The incident occurred after Poirier was removed from a flight bound for Florida and later arrested on a public intoxication charge.
Since retiring from MMA following UFC 318, Dustin Poirier has been candid about the challenges of life after fighting. In recent months, he has admitted to struggling with alcohol and has since committed himself to sobriety after what he describes as a major wake-up call.
Speaking during a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, Poirier confirmed that Bud Light wasted no time ending their business relationship.
“They terminated my contract immediately,” Poirier said.

While losing the sponsorship cost him a significant amount of money, Poirier said his focus now remains on his personal recovery rather than financial setbacks.
“It’s all good. I don’t need that poison in my life,” Poirier said.”It sucks that my family loses out on the money that I had left on the deal with them, which was a few hundred thousand dollars. But if I’m representing something that I’m not going to be taking part in and promoting, it is what it is.”
Poirier acknowledged that alcohol affects people differently and admitted he can no longer justify promoting a product that contributed to his personal struggles.
“There’s plenty of people who drink responsibly, but I’m not one of them. I’m not that person.”
The former UFC star has spent the weeks since his arrest reflecting on the events that led to the incident. He previously apologized for his actions and described the situation as a turning point in his life. According to Poirier, the arrest forced him to confront issues he had been battling privately for months.
Since then, Dustin Poirier has remained committed to staying sober and rebuilding his life outside of professional fighting. While the loss of the Bud Light partnership represents a financial blow, he appears determined to view it as part of a larger personal transformation.
