EARLY LIFE

Demarte Pena is an Angolan fighter who has been in the combat sports industry for years. The fighter is skilled at muay Thai and Shaolin kung fu, but he soon began training in MMA after an incident in 2005. Pena and a few friends decided to test their fighting skills, but Pena was soon locked in an armbar, which led to his submission. After this experience, the athlete was puzzled by his defeat and began training in MMA.

Before his transition to MMA, Pena competed in the SASCA grappling tournament, where he gained the championship title. He is also an undefeated amateur Muay Thai champion with six wins. The athlete is currently ranked #6 in Frane pro bantamweights and #17 in European Western pro bantamweights. He has been in sixteen professional MMA fights and has only lost two battles.

MMA CAREER

The season fighter has gained many achievements since he transitioned into MMA. He is currently EFC’s first and youngest featherweight champion, with ten title defenses, and the longest-running EFC champion, with a winning streak.

Pena mainly competed at EFC and Ares FC tournaments during his professional run. He has also been in five amateur fights with one loss, but there are no official records of this fight. His first professional fight saw him face off against Mawande Mazithambe at EFC Worldwide, and he won the match. Next, he faced off against Jean Luc-Kazadi and defeated his opponent. Afterward, he battled Leo Gloss for the featherweight championship title and won the match. Later, he squared off against challenger Wesley Hawkey to defend his title, and he defeated his opponent after trapping him in a rear naked choke that led to a tapout in round one.

Following this, Pena faced a back-to-back battle to retain his featherweight championship title. His next challenger was Terrence Griessel, and Pena won the fight after a unanimous decision. Soon after, he battled Wentzel Nel and won the battle following a unanimous decision. Next, he battled Abdul Hassan and won the fight following a round-one retirement. Later, he faced Nkazimulo Zulu and won the fight again with a unanimous decision. Next, he battled Francois Groenewald and won the fight after pummeling his opponent with savage blows that led to a TKO in round four.

Subsequently, he battled Cedric Doyle and won the match following a unanimous decision. Next, he faced Irshaad Sayed at EFC Worldwide 55 and 66, but the fight was declared a no-contest match. Later, he faced Taylor Lapilus at Ares FC 5. The two came swinging hard kicks, but Lapilus soon had Pena back against the cage. Pena fired a left-right combo, but Lapilus countered with an overhand swing. Pena went in for a takedown but couldn’t and got a knee-to-body shot while clinched up. He held on to Lapilus’s feet, but his opponent broke free and landed heavy elbow shots and punches before a referee stoppage.

After this, Pena battled Moustapha Aida and won the fight after a unanimous decision. His next two battles were against Elias Boudegzdame and Mehdi Saadi at Ares FC, and he won the fights after a unanimous decision. Next, he faced Roevan De Beer and won the fight following a ground and pound in round two. His last recorded fight was against Louis Lee Scott, and he lost this battle after a unanimous decision.
