Darren Till believes Conor McGregor may need to seriously consider retirement following yet another devastating injury setback, but that hasn’t stopped the former UFC title challenger from entertaining the possibility of facing the Irish superstar in BKFC.
McGregor’s long-awaited return at UFC 329 ended in disaster when he suffered a serious knee injury just seconds into his rematch against Max Holloway. The fight was waved off almost immediately, marking another frustrating chapter in McGregor’s recent career after a string of injury-related setbacks.
Despite the disappointment, McGregor has already vowed to return and target another fight during International Fight Week in 2027. However, Darren Till believes the former two-division UFC champion should listen to what his body is telling him.
“I like it, but the thing with Conor is he’s made a lot of money,” Till told The Independent. “He probably doesn’t still need it, but he probably wants it because it’s hard for him to leave the sport behind and he’s a fighter’s fighter.I do get it, but sometimes it’s probably best to just let it go.
“If Conor’s getting injured like that in the first few seconds of a fight, he should probably be listening to his body.”
While Till questioned whether McGregor should continue competing, he also acknowledged that the Irishman has access to the best medical treatment available and could still make another comeback.
“But again, the one thing with Conor, he’s got more than enough money to get seen to and to get all the best procedures, so who knows? He might come back a better man, he might not. We’ll see.”
McGregor’s latest injury only adds to a growing list of physical setbacks in recent years. He famously broke his leg during his trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier in 2021, later withdrew from a scheduled fight against Michael Chandler due to a toe injury, and has now suffered a torn ACL following his loss to Holloway.
The recurring injuries have fueled speculation about whether McGregor should continue fighting at all.
For Darren Till, the decision ultimately rests with McGregor, but the signs suggest the former UFC champion may need to evaluate his future carefully.
Although Till believes retirement could be the best option for McGregor, he wouldn’t hesitate to accept a fight against him if the opportunity arose inside BKFC.
McGregor still has one fight remaining on his UFC contract. Once that obligation is fulfilled, he could explore opportunities elsewhere, including Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, where he currently holds an ownership stake.
If that path leads to a clash with Till, the Liverpool native is more than willing to make it happen.
“If it’s ever on the cards for me and Conor, I’d happily take it,” Till said.“He’s obviously got a share in the company, he can obviously pick and choose who he wants to fight. If ever that day comes and he wants to fight me, then we’ll glove up—or we won’t glove up, because it’ll just be fists.”
A potential BKFC showdown between Darren Till and McGregor would undoubtedly become one of the biggest fights in the promotion’s history, especially given the star power both men bring to the table.
