EARLY LIFE

Dansheel Moodley began training in combat sports at the age of 13 when he joined a karate dojo. He soon realized he was destined for more and took his training up a notch by learning fighting styles like judo and kickboxing. Moodley is ranked #7 in South Africa’s pro flyweight and has competed in five amateur bouts and thirteen professional fights.

MMA CAREER

The fighter competed at the amateur level at the Africa Fight League and MFC Fight Zone before moving up to EFC, Brave CF, and Beatdown Promotions for his professional run. Moodley’s first amateur battle was against Conrad Bernhardt, and he won the fight after a unanimous decision. Next, he went up against Radley De Vries and defeated his opponent. He soon faced Yusuf Hassan and lost the fight after a barrage of punches led to a TKO. Later, Moodley went up against Piesang Van Huizen and defeated his opponent following a split decision win. His last recorded amateur fight was against Sayabonga Maphumulo Mzwa, and he dominated his opponent in this match.

Moodley finally made his professional debut at EFC Worldwide 50, facing Guy Mongambi and winning the battle unanimously. Next, he faced TC Khusu and suffered defeat after a flurry of punches led to a TKO in round three. He soon went up against Roevan De Beer and won the fight after defeating his opponent with a unanimous decision. Moodley soon battled Fafa Dwama and won the battle again by unanimous decision. Afterward, he squared off against Josemare Emerson Octavia and won the fight by unanimous decision. He soon went up against Frans Mlambo at Brave CF 19 and suffered defeat after a series of strikes and punches led to his submission in round one. Next, he battled Noureddin Hezrat and scored a unanimous decision win. Following this, he fought Anton Larsson and won the fight, which was a unanimous decision. Next, he faced Gift Walker at EFC Fight Night 2.


Moodley came in with leg kicks, to which Walker responded with a head kick. They remained guarded, but Moodley backed him to the cage with kicks and jabs. Walker rained on his hard and kept eating the leg kicks before landing a leg hook that fell Moodley. Walker went in for a sprawl, but Moodley soon returned to his feet. He landed a knee-to-head strike and a left jab that wobbled Moodley. Walker continued with a left-right elbow combo before a front kick. He kept firing two left punches and a right jab that dropped Moodley before a referee stoppage. Next, he faced old-time opponents Fafa Owama and Jenel Lausa, whom he beat by unanimous decision.

Subsequently, he faced Edilceu Alves and lost the battle to a unanimous decision by the judges. His last recorded battle was at the Beatdown Promotions 5, where he faced Stewart Nicoll. Moodley came in with leg kicks and jabs that rocked Nicoll, but his opponent remained agile and on his feet. Nicoll went for a takedown and soon got on Moodley’s back, where he landed savage blows. Moodley tried to escape, but Nicoll held on and continued landing punches and headshots. Nicoll went in for a triangle choke but couldn’t manage it and decided on a ground and pound instead, which led to a referee stoppage.
