Conor McGregor says he expects to face Michael Chandler at the highly anticipated UFC White House card, expressing eagerness to return to the Octagon after over four years out of action. Conor McGregor has stirred the MMA world once again, announcing that he’s set to face Michael Chandler at the UFC’s much-hyped White House card. The Irish superstar dropped the claim on social media, hinting at a blockbuster matchup for what could be one of the most high-profile events in UFC history.

“The Mac is excited to get back for sure. I’m on [the White House card],” McGregor said. “This is me. “[I’m fighting] Michael Chandler. Michael Chandler and myself have done the show The Ultimate Fighter, we’ve had a good back and forth. He’s a good, tough guy.”

McGregor and Chandler have history, they coached opposing teams on The Ultimate Fighter 31, and they were supposed to fight back in June 2024. That fight was cancelled due to an injury McGregor sustained. Michael Chandler has also weighed in, saying he believes the fight could finally happen. He recently said he feels “closer than ever” to squaring off with McGregor at the White House event.

UFC President Dana White, however, noted that no fights for the White House card will be officially confirmed until early 2026. Still, White admitted that he’s been in contact with McGregor, and recognizes the Irish fighter is serious about returning. Michael Chandler told MMA Fighting just days ago that he was targeting the UFC White House card for his next fight, and ideally, McGregor would serve as his opponent.

“I think we’re closer now than we ever have been,” Chandler said about making the McGregor fight finally happen. “I’ve always said if you’re a betting man, don’t put money on him necessarily coming back but now this changes things a lot. “In my heart of hearts, I think I’m fighting Conor McGregor at the White House and that sure does make a ton of sense for a multitude of reasons.”

While McGregor’s comments have reignited excitement about a long-awaited showdown with Chandler, the UFC has yet to officially announce any bouts for the White House card. Until then, fans will have to wait and see whether one of the sport’s biggest rivalries finally materialize on one of the UFC’s most unusual stages.
