Irishman and former UFC champion Conor McGregor is hinting at a possible return to the cage and he already has an opponent in mind.
McGregor has been out of action since 2021, when he suffered a serious injury, and has yet to make a comeback despite ongoing teases about a matchup with Michael Chandler. During his time away from the octagon, the fighter has faced a series of controversies, including multiple sexual assault allegations and a surprise visit to the White House.
The BKFC co-owner recently mentioned plans to run for political office in Ireland, but it seems those ambitions may be on hold as McGregor now aims to return to the cage to settle some “unfinished” business. He was originally scheduled to fight Michael Chandler in June 2024 but withdrew due to injury. Now, it appears the fighter is ready to step back into the octagon on the condition that the fight takes place in a stadium.

McGregor recently tweeted a cryptic message pointing to Chandler as his comeback opponent:
“IRON MIKE CHANDLER. Unfinished business.”
Chandler is more than ready for the bout, having long awaited the opportunity to face McGregor. He responded in a follow-up tweet:
“Unfinished business loading…”
He continued:
“Dust off the old contract and add some new ink… I’m ready tomorrow. YOUR WORD IS YOUR BOND. IF YOUR WORD IS NO GOOD, THEN EVENTUALLY YOU ARE NO GOOD.”
While McGregor has been out of the cage for a while, Chandler has also faced setbacks, suffering two straight losses in his most recent bouts. Hopefully, a potential clash between the two will give Chandler a chance to turn things around and give fans the long-anticipated showdown they’ve been waiting for.
