Ananias “Metal” Mulumba has continued to make a name for himself as one of Africa’s most exciting MMA prospects. The Congolese fighter, who hails from Lubumbashi, has built an impressive record filled with exciting finishes both on the feet and on the ground. With nine wins and just two losses, Mulumba is proving that he is a force to watch in the sport.
At AKO 6: Final Eliminator, Mulumba faced Jackiel Ayana, where he delivered one of his strongest performances, securing a TKO victory in the second round with a barrage of punches and elbows. The win secured his spot in the championship finals of the African Knockout series.
Earlier in the year, on June 15, 2024, Mulumba stepped into the cage at AKO 4: Emeka vs. Munwe, where he fought Jonathan Lamptey. He finished the fight in just 1 minute and 52 seconds of the first round by TKO.
After this, Mulumba also tested himself on the international stage at Brave CF 82, which took place in 2024. He faced Ylies Djiroun, a seasoned opponent with strong grappling skills. Unfortunately, Mulumba suffered a setback in this fight, losing via technical submission to a guillotine choke in the first round at 1:39. While it was a tough defeat, it served as a valuable learning experience.
Despite that loss, Mulumba has bounced back with two strong wins in AKO, bringing his recent record to two victories and one defeat in his last three fights.
Now, Mulumba is set to take his biggest step yet. The fighter is slated to appear at Dana White’s Contender Series (DWCS), where he will face Marwan Rahiki. A strong performance could potentially earn him a UFC contract, which will serve as a chance to showcase African talent on the biggest stage of them all.
Looking ahead, Ananias Mulumba appears ready for even greater challenges. With his recent wins positioning him as a contender in AKO and his upcoming shot at DWCS, his career is clearly on an upward motion.
