Mkhwanazi Chilufya

Impact Championship 5 delivered a solid night of combat in Lusaka, Zambia, but all eyes were locked on the main event: Godfrey Mkhwanazi vs. Douglas Jai Chilufya.

The main event PFL the night wasn’t flashy, but it was a good fight, tactical, calculated, and honest and in the end, Mkhwanazi walked away with a unanimous decision win. He proved that poise under pressure still counts in a sport that often rewards chaos.

The featherweight bout closed out the card at The Scream nightclub on July 11, 2025, capping off an event that’s slowly pushing Zambian MMA onto the continental radar. Both fighters came in with something to prove, Mkhwanazi with a few pro fights under his belt, and Chilufya looking to make a name in his hometown. What unfolded was a three-round war of attrition that tested cardio, timing, and grit.

From the opening bell, it was clear Mkhwanazi wasn’t here to brawl—he was here to control. He kept the center of the cage, cut angles, and used tight, efficient boxing to set the tone. Chilufya answered with bursts of pressure, looking to close the distance and land heavy shots, but Mkhwanazi’s footwork and clinch control smothered most of that offense.
In round two, Chilufya started showing signs of urgency, pushing the pace and landing a few clean shots during wild exchanges along the cage. But Mkhwanazi stayed composed, slipping just enough to avoid the worst of it and firing back with counters that snapped Chilufya’s head back. The judges noticed. The crowd did too.

The final round was Chilufya’s best shot to flip the story, and he tried—walking Mkhwanazi down, swinging hard, looking for a finish. But Mkhwanazi didn’t run. He stayed in the pocket, traded smartly, and scored with knees in the clinch that halted Chilufya’s momentum every time it seemed to build. When the horn sounded, both men looked spent, but only one had clearly done enough.

The decision wasn’t controversial. All three judges gave it to Mkhwanazi, and deservedly so. He weathered the storm, controlled the pace, and landed the cleaner work throughout.
