Pimblett

UFC fighter Paddy Pimblett questions Dustin Poirier’s decision to retire after his final bout.

Pimblett is set to face Michael Chandler in his next match, but he already has a lineup of fighters he would like to face, with Dustin Poirier topping that list. Unfortunately, Poirier says he has his sights set on battling only legends and doesn’t believe Pimblett will win his next match. Despite Poirier’s decision regarding retirement, Pimblett believes “The Diamond” is making the wrong choice and should stick it out and not be an “idiot”.

In an interview with Papa Lagespi, Pimblett spoke about fighting Poirier and believes the fighter’s last bout with Makhachev—despite ending in a loss for Poirier—shows that he might still have some gas left in the tank.

Poirier

“Well, [Poirier] said something about me the other day, didn’t he? Saying it’s legends only [for the rest of his career], and he thinks Chandler would beat me,” Pimblett told ESPN Deportes (via MMA Mania). “I think he should have more than one fight. He looked good in his last fight; I don’t understand why you’d retire when you look good. But, he must be an idiot. I think I beat Dustin Poirier, so I’d love to fight him.”

Paddy Pimblett will definitely be in title contention if he beats Michael Chandler in Miami. However, he will probably need another win before taking on the champion, Islam Makhachev. A fight with somebody like Dustin Poirier would definitely give him the opportunity to make himself undeniable.
