UFC fighter Dustin Poirier has made comments about retiring for some time now and it seems the fighter might be ready to finally hang up his gloves.
“The Diamond” hasn’t been in the cage since a title fight with Islam Makhachev but unfortunately he lost after five impressive rounds. After this loss, Poirier teased about retirement but says he still has one more fight before he finally packs it up.
In an interview with MMA fighting, Poirier confirmed the possibility of one more bout before his retirement. He revealed it might take place in summer, New Orleans. For now, there is no confirmation if this is true or not as UFC hasn’t had a fight in New Orleans for awhile but Poirier believes this might be a good opportunity for UFC to start it up again.

‘I’ll drop it. It’s [going to happen in] the summer, in July or August, probably.” Dustin Poirier stated to MMA Fighting. “We’re working on UFC New Orleans. I’m trying to retire in my home state, the UFC hasn’t been there since, maybe, 2015? Yeah, I fought on the card as well, I fought Yancy Medeiros. But, that was the last time I got to fight at home.”
He continued, “To retire, where it all started in Louisana would be incredible for me in my career. Yes sir, [I will fight in the main event]. [I don’t have any opponent] quite yet. We’re still working on a couple of things.”
For now, there is no line up of fighters and Poirier reveals the search for a possible opponent is still on. “Not quite yet. Still working on a couple of things.”
