EARLY LIFE

The Ireland-born combat fighter hails from Tallaght, Dublin, and is a fierce athlete in the MMA industry. The 30-year-old is a single mother of one and credits her ambition and love for fighting to her father, Martin, a martial arts coach. Bannon comes from a family of fighters. Her younger sister Nicole is a bronze medalist in the women’s light contact kickboxing at the European Games in Poland. The athlete is the first female Irish to compete in a UFC tournament and inspires English female fighters. She is a top-level MMA kickbox fighter with two black belts in jujitsu.

The fighter won the Master 1 level at the International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation World Championships. Also, she is a seven-time World Association Kickboxing champion and six-time European champion. However, her journey into the combat sports industry began at age 4 when she took up kickboxing. She went on to represented Ireland at the age 8 in the combat sport. She officially competed in the MMA world in 2018 at the amateur level and progressed to the pro level in 2020. Soon after the contest, she got pregnant but returned shortly afterward and signed with UFC in 2023. Bannon has been in eighteen brawls, twelve amateur and six professional fights throughout her MMA career.

MMA CAREER

Bannon has competed in many national and international tournaments like Cage Warriors: Academy Ireland 2, IMMAF-WMMAA junior & senior, World Championship, MFC, UKFC, Cage Conflict, CLFC, IMMAF-MMA World Cup, and Invicta FC. She officially debuted as a UFC fighter at the UFC Fight Night 224. Bannon squared up against opponent Catherine McFadden in the bantamweight category for her first amateur cage battle. She defeated her opponent in this fight via KO in the first round.

In her next fight, she battled Ukrainian fighter Nadezhda Goncharova but lost after an armbar that led to her submission in round three. After this, she faced off with Nicole Lewis at Cage Conflict 2. Bannon had Lewis in a rear naked choke in round two, which led to Bannon’s victory and Lewis’s submission. The next opponents against Bannon in the amateur league were Yessica Ortega and Gabriela Horakova. The fighters had their bouts at the IMMAF-WMMAA Championship, and the match ended with Bannon winning unanimously in both matches.

Not long after, she lost her winning streak in the fight with Guangmei Han at the IMMAF-WMMAA and Dakota Ditcheva at the UKFC but bounced back in her next match with a knockout in round two against Charlie Burke at the flyweight division. Unsurprisingly, Bannon’s tenacity kept her victorious at almost every game. She defeated Kerry Ann Vernon at Cage Conflict and Maria Kaald Andresen at the IMMAF-MMA World Cup. Bannon clashed with Vernon, and her opponent got another chance to redeem herself at the IMMAF-MMA World Cup. Unfortunately, Vernon suffered another defeat at the hands of Bannon. Soon, Bannon rounded up her amateur season by facing off Shanelle Dyer and floored her opponent with a TKO in round three.

Advancing to the pro league, Bannon faced Kerry Isom at the CLFC and dominated her opponent by delivering precise bodily strikes. The bout ended with Bannon emerging victorious by delivering a TKO in round two. Bannon faced opponent Chi Attoh and destroyed her in the first round by TKO. After Bannon’s victory, her next match saw her squaring up against Mexican fighter Nadia Vera in the strawweight division. But she won the bout by unanimous decision. Bannon faced off with Isom at the CLFC again in Legacy 18, but Isom suffered another brutal loss in the third round.

Next in Bannon’s pro-level match was her fight with Minna Grusander, whom she defeated in round three and was declared the winner by unanimous decision. The build-up led to her first official fight as a UFC athlete, and she faced off against Bruna Brasil. The match was tough, with opponents delivering heavy ground-pounding and spinning strikes and kicks. Still, Brasil defeated Bannon in the third round by unanimous decision.
