The former UFC fighter has backed her close friend and fellow Liverpool fighter to finally capture UFC gold next year, while she has set her sights on becoming a boxing world champion in the same year.
McCann has already begun building her new career in boxing after leaving MMA behind. She made her professional boxing debut in 2025 after signing with Matchroom Boxing and has continued to pursue her goal of becoming a world champion. Her confidence in Pimblett is equally strong.
Pimblett has established himself as one of the UFC’s biggest lightweight stars. However, his latest attempt to win UFC gold ended in defeat when he lost a unanimous decision to Justin Gaethje in their interim lightweight title fight in January 2026. He bounced back from his January 2026 loss to Justin Gaethje by submitting Benoît Saint Denis in July 2026.
Despite that setback, McCann clearly believes the loss will only delay Pimblett’s championship dream rather than end it.
For the Liverpool pair, the target is now the world titles in 2027. McCann wants to make history in boxing, while Pimblett looks to climb back into UFC title contention and finally get his hands on undisputed gold.
If both predictions come true, 2027 could become a remarkable year for two of Liverpool’s most recognisable combat-sports stars. One wants UFC gold. The other wants boxing gold. And Molly McCann believes they can both get it.
