Conor McGregor breaks silence after knee surgery. Conor McGregor has made it clear that his comeback is far from over. The former two-division UFC champion has broken his silence after undergoing successful knee surgery following the devastating injury that ended his UFC 329 comeback against Max Holloway.
McGregor returned to the Octagon for the first time in five years on July 11, but his highly anticipated rematch with Holloway lasted just 69 seconds. An injury to his knee forced the fight to be stopped, leaving the Irish superstar facing another lengthy road back to competition.
Conor McGregor remains confident that he will be back in the octagon soon following surgery to address the devastating knee injury he suffered at UFC 329. Now, after successfully completing surgery, McGregor has delivered a defiant message on social media to those questioning whether he can return. McGregor also pointed to the successful comebacks of athletes such as Dominick Cruz, Georges St-Pierre, Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers as motivation during his own recovery

“What’s up, folks?” McGregor said. ‘The Mac’ is back, baby. Surgery was a success and now I’m on the road to recovery. That should tell you all you need to know about my mindset. Straight into surgery, knee repaired, and on the road. Let’s go. “I want to give a shout-out to Dominick Cruz, who returned from multiple ACLs to recapture his bantamweight crown. Georges St-Pierre, multiple ACLs. I don’t know whether he returned after his second ACL, however he’s doing backflips and his movement is still stellar. Other notables in other sports, NFL, Tom Brady’s done it. Aaron [Rodgers] done it. These are my motivation here, especially the fighting boys. “Unstoppable, baby. My mindset is unstoppable, unbreakable.”
The 38-year-old is now facing another demanding rehabilitation process, but he remains confident that he can return to competition. The injury against Holloway was particularly painful given McGregor’s long road back to the Octagon. He had not fought since suffering a broken leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021, while a planned comeback against Michael Chandler in 2024 was also derailed by injury. For now, the doubters can talk. McGregor has made it clear that he intends to answer them the only way he knows how, which is by fighting again.
