Julius Walker has finally spoken out following the toughest loss of his professional MMA career.

The rising light heavyweight suffered a brutal setback at UFC Baku when undefeated prospect Abdul-Rakhman Yakhyaev knocked him out just eight seconds into their fight. The result tied for the seventh-fastest knockout in UFC history and left many questioning what comes next for Walker.

Despite the disappointment, Julius Walker remains focused on the lessons learned rather than the painful outcome.

Taking to Instagram after the event, Walker reflected on the experience and admitted that the quick finish was difficult to process after everything that went into preparing for the fight.

“#UFCBaku was an incredible experience despite it ending with one of the worst possible results,” Walker wrote.

“Obviously, I am extremely disappointed with getting KO’d in 8 seconds. After the fight, I couldn’t stop thinking about how much went into me going out there and getting dropped with the first punch. My family went two months without me, my sponsors invested heavily in me, my team and my coaches spent hours preparing me and traveling to be here.”

Walker acknowledged how difficult it was to accept that weeks of preparation ended almost immediately after the opening bell.

“It’s hard to wrap my head around the fact that it was all for an 8-second fight. But in reality, that’s not the case. I grew as a fighter and as a man more in this camp than any one I’ve had before.”

“Although I didn’t get to show them, I know I am twice the fighter I was two months ago. I’ve preached about being process-oriented over results-oriented, and now I have no choice but to take my own advice.”

The 26-year-old insisted that one setback will not define his journey. Instead, he plans to use the experience as motivation moving forward.

“This sport can be cruel, but I won’t let this result take away from the fact that I know I have improved, and I have so much to build on.”

“I am far from done, turning 27 in a few weeks, a little over three years into my pro MMA career, and I started this sport from zero a little under seven years ago. I’ll be back to work as soon as possible, but first I will take some much-needed time with my family.”

Before ending his statement, Julius Walker thanked those who supported him throughout training camp and congratulated Yakhyaev on the victory.

“The results did not show it this time, but I will keep working and build back stronger and better,” Walker said.”Congrats to my opponent, Abdul-Rakhman Yakhyaev, on a dominant win, and congrats to his entire team for building such a dominant fighter. I am extremely excited to get home to my family. I’ll be back soon.”

The defeat marked Walker’s third loss in his first four UFC appearances. After earning a contract with the promotion following an undefeated 5-0 start to his MMA career, Walker dropped a Fight of the Night split decision to Alonzo Menifield in his UFC debut before rebounding with a victory over Raffael Cerqueira.

However, consecutive knockout losses to Dustin Jacoby and Yakhyaev have placed his UFC future in doubt.

For now, Julius Walker remains focused on recovery and improvement. While the result in Baku will be remembered for its speed, Walker hopes his response to adversity will ultimately define the next chapter of his career.
