Alexander Hernandez is done looking back. After weeks of uncertainty and controversy, he’s focused on one thing, getting back inside the Octagon and proving a point.

Alexander Hernandez was originally scheduled to face Michael Johnson at UFC 324, but the bout was abruptly canceled on fight day. The promotion never gave an official explanation, although unusual betting line movement sparked speculation and rumors, including unfounded accusations of fight fixing.

Now cleared to compete, Alexander Hernandez returns this Saturday at UFC Vegas 116 against Rafa Garcia, and he isn’t hiding his frustration over how everything unfolded.

“That was a headache and a half. That was a stressful five weeks,” Hernandez said during media day. “It’s good to be on the right side of it now, and I’m praying nothing crazy happens this week. I’m happy to be back.”

Alexander Hernandez made it clear that the situation exposed a bigger issue within the sport—fighter protection.

“I say this is uncharted territory,” he said. “This is the first time someone’s been falsely accused of fixing a fight or doing anything like that. It’s new waters for everyone.”

UFC fighter smiles at a press conference, holding a microphone, wearing a black-and-white patterned jacket with sponsor logos on the backdrop behind him.

“I think there needs to be some kind of protection for fighters,” he continued. “Who’s looking out for me in that situation, or the next guy? You’ve got unregulated betting, uninformed opinions, and no one protecting the individual.”

Despite the noise, Alexander Hernandez doubled down on his innocence and expressed relief that he can finally move forward with his career.

“I’m not talking to any authorities,” he said. “I don’t expect any apologies either. But I’m in good standing with the UFC, and we’re fighting. That’s what matters.”

The controversy may have shaken things up, but it hasn’t slowed his momentum. Alexander Hernandez enters the bout riding a four-fight win streak, including a TKO victory over Diego Ferreira.

Now, his focus is simple—perform.

“I’m solid. Let that be known—no rumors,” Hernandez said. “I feel great. I’m healthy, and I’m excited to go out there and put on a show.”

“I just want to do something I’m proud of,” he added. “Something that looks like art in there.”

For Alexander Hernandez, this fight isn’t just another appearance, it’s a reset, and a chance to remind everyone exactly who he is.
