Demetrious Johnson is finally getting his flowers.
The UFC confirmed that Johnson will be inducted into the Hall of Fame this summer during International Fight Week, cementing his place among the greatest fighters in MMA history. With UFC Seattle taking place in his home state of Washington, the announcement felt perfectly timed.
When “Mighty Mouse” appeared on screen inside the arena, the crowd responded with a loud ovation, a fitting tribute to a fighter who defined an entire division.
Demetrious Johnson still holds one of the most untouchable records in the sport: 11 consecutive flyweight title defences between 2013 and 2017. It’s a run built not just on dominance, but on discipline and precision.
And for Johnson, that’s exactly what he values most.
“Just my consistency,” Johnson said. “Making weight, passing every drug test, defending the belt. Just being consistent every single night I stepped inside that octagon.
“I think a lot of people don’t realize — it’s easy to become a champion, but to stay a champion and be consistent? That’s different. To be consistent every single night when I competed is probably one thing that’ll always stay close to my heart.”
Demetrious Johnson’s UFC career tells only part of the story. He went 15-2-1 in the promotion, becoming the inaugural flyweight champion and defending the belt against elite competition like Joseph Benavidez, Henry Cejudo, and others.
After losing the belt in a rematch against Cejudo, Johnson made history again — this time outside the cage — as part of the first-ever trade between major MMA promotions. He moved to ONE Championship, where he continued to build his legacy, winning a Grand Prix and securing a memorable trilogy victory over Adriano Moraes.

He officially retired in 2024 with a professional record of 25-4-1, leaving behind a career defined by excellence.
Despite all the accolades, Demetrious Johnson insists he never let ego define him.
“I never had an ego,” he said. “People called me boring, but it never bothered me. I just went out there and did what I was supposed to do.”
Now, Demetrious Johnson joins the UFC Hall of Fame’s Modern Wing alongside legends like Georges St-Pierre, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and Amanda Nunes — a recognition that feels long overdue.
