Deiveson Figueiredo edges Montel Jackson in a gritty three-round battle by split decision. Figueiredo claimed victory after three hard-fought rounds, earning a split-decision . On Saturday, October 11 Deiveson Figueiredo and Montel Jackson went to war in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night: Oliveira vs. Gamrot. The Rio crowd roared as both men delivered a thrilling bantamweight showdown .

Deiveson Figueiredo’s journey has been a mix of highs and setbacks. In May 2025, he suffered a TKO loss to Cory Sandhagen after injuring his knee during a grappling exchange, Sandhagen secured the win at 4:08 of Round 2. That defeat came after another tough night in November 2024, when Petr Yan handed him a unanimous decision loss. Before these defeats, Figueiredo had earned a unanimous decision win over Marlon Vera in August 2024. And back in April 2024, he submitted Cody Garbrandt via rear-naked choke.

Montel Jackson meanwhile, has been riding momentum of his own. His record stands at 15-2-0, with 8 wins by KO/TKO. In his latest fight on May 3, 2025, Jackson defeated Daniel Marcos by unanimous decision. Before that, he scored a brutal 18-second KO over Da’Mon Blackshear in July 2024. He also had stoppage wins over Rani Yahya and a decision win over Julio Arce. Jackson made his walk to the Octagon calm and composed, while his opponent, Figueiredo, came in fired up, sprinting to the cage and ready for war.

After a respectful glove touch, the action kicked off immediately. Figueiredo shot for an early takedown and secured it, planting Jackson on the mat. Jackson worked to scramble out, but Figueiredo stayed heavy on top, dragging him back down and threatening with a choke. Jackson managed to escape and got back to his feet, and both men met again at the center of the cage, trading crisp punches and thudding leg kicks until the horn ended Round 1.

Round 2 started fast, with Figueiredo landing another takedown less than a minute in. Jackson tried to wriggle free, but Figueiredo maintained control. Eventually, Jackson fought his way back up, and the two exchanged strikes in the center once more. Jackson began finding success with his hands, connecting clean on Figueiredo as the round turned into a heated striking exchange right up until the bell.

The final round started at a slower pace, with both fighters measuring their shots. Figueiredo connected first with a solid leg kick that Jackson absorbed, and Jackson fired back with one that nearly swept Figueiredo off his feet. Jackson then scored a takedown of his own, but Figueiredo quickly scrambled back up. In the closing seconds, Figueiredo attempted another takedown, but time ran out before he could finish it. When the judges’ scorecards were read, it was Figueiredo who emerged victorious by split decision after a hard-fought three-round battle.

“This is what it’s about,” Figueiredo said to the Brazilian crowd. “We pour our blood in here for your entertainment. There’s a lot of people online wishing me harm. I want to fight Merab [Dvalishvili]. But I know I have to work hard to get there.”
