UFC VEGAS 91: DAVID ONAMA DEFEATS JONATHAN PEARCE IN A HIGH-PACED BATTLE

The UFC Fight Night at La Vegas was a momentous occasion, featuring a series of unforgettable battles. Among them, the main card showdown between Ugandan warrior David Onama and Jonathan Pearce stood out. Onama, riding high on his knockout victory over Gabriel Santos in June 2023, was determined to maintain his winning streak. Pearce, on the other hand, was eager to prove his mettle and bounce back from his submission loss to Joanderson Brito.Despite David Onama’s weigh-in mishap, which will result in a fine, he showed up for the battle in top form.Both fighters entered the cage with a measured approach. Pearce soon went for another takedown, but Onama stayed on top and remained in Pearce’s guard with a body lock until round one ended.



The two went to the ground in the early minutes of round two, trying to wrestle the other into submission. Onama was soon back on his feet in the final round and fired a jab and leg kick that caught Pearce. Round three began with Pearce evading Onama and staying on his feet before going for a clinch and backing Onama into the cage, but he managed to escape. Onama landed uppercuts, and Pearce fired back. He wrestled Onama to the floor, but his opponent soon got back up. Pearce went in for a takedown that ended in a sprawl, but he wasn’t deterred. He soon went for another takedown and got on Onama’s back but reversed the position. Both opponents continued to swing at each other, exchanging fiery punches, but the match finally ended with a unanimous decision win for Onama.
