The spotlight returns to Perth, Australia, on Saturday, September 27, 2025, as UFC Fight Night: Ulberg vs. Reyes took over the RAC Arena. In the main event, rising light heavyweight contender Carlos “Black Jag” Ulberg squares off with former title challenger Dominick “The Devastator” Reyes in a high-stakes clash. Originally, fans were also set to see a light heavyweight co-main event between Junior Tafa and Ibo Aslan, but that bout got cancelled due to injury, and the card was reshuffles putting even more focus on Ulberg vs. Reyes.
Carlos Ulberg has quietly built one of the division’s most impressive current streaks. After suffering the one defeat of his career to Kennedy Nzechukwu in March 2021, Ulberg hasn’t looked back. He grabbed headlines in May 2024 with a jaw-dropping 12-second knockout of Alonzo Menifield, then proved he could stay composed over three rounds by outpointing veteran Volkan Oezdemir that November. In March 2025 he added another milestone, a hard-fought decision over former champion Jan Błachowicz UFC London. Those wins have transformed Ulberg.

Dominick Reyes endured a rough patch after his narrow title fight loss to Jon Jones in 2020, suffering back-to-back knockouts against Jan Błachowicz, Jiri Prochazka and Ryan Spann. But 2024 marked a turning point. Reyes scored a first-round knockout of Dustin Jacoby in June 2024, followed by a TKO win over Anthony Smith in December. In April 2025, he reminded everyone of his power by winning against Nikita Krylov with a first-round knockout at UFC 314. The run has re-established Reyes as one of the division’s most dangerous finishers. The two figthers entered the octagon to give their best.
The fight opened cautiously, with both fighters testing distance and throwing low kicks and jabs to gauge timing. Midway through the round Ulberg started to find his range and began landing sharper counters and jabs to set up bigger shots. As Reyes started to press forward, Ulberg landed a sharp left hand that set him up perfectly. Without hesitation, he followed it up with a crushing right hook then another left hook that left Reyes crumpling to the canvas. The sequence was fast and decisive. The referee stepped in and waved the fight off at 4:27 of round one after confirming Reyes could not continue. The bout was recorded as a KO/TKO.

“That’s exactly what we wanted,” Ulberg said about his knockout win. “I just spoke to Hunter [Campbell] and we’re going to be talking about something, flying me to Vegas so I can go there and witness those guys fight. All the best for them but I’m going to be there in the flesh. “That’s exactly how I envisioned the whole thing. Props to Dom and his whole team for coming out. Don’t sleep on the guy, always support the brother.”..Ulberg said during the post-fight interview.
Ulberg’s timing and composure were on full display. He picked his moment, attacked decisively, and delivered a knockout punch sequence that Reyes never saw coming. His ability to step up his striking under pressure showed he’s grown beyond just being a prospect. Reyes on the other hand came in on a hot streak with three straight finishes hoping to regain momentum. But Ulberg’s performance not only halted that run, it also sent a message that he’s one of the division’s most dangerous threats.
