Ariane da Silva definitely turned heads at the UFC 316 official weigh-ins—but not in the way she would’ve hoped.

The official weigh-ins for UFC 316, which took place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, on Friday, June 6, 2025, are now complete. The whole fight card was confirmed when all but one fighter made weight.

Even though the bantamweight title fights are set to take place on Saturday in Newark, New Jersey, not all of the competitors made it to the finish line without any problems.

The flyweight veteran, Ariane da Silva, showed up six pounds over the flyweight limit—tipping the scale at 132 pounds on Friday morning. Missing weight by that much isn’t just a mistake; it raises concerns about proper weight management and professionalism. Wang Cong, her opponent, successfully made weight at 125 pounds.

It was confirmed that the bout between da Silva and Wang will move forward as a catchweight. As a result of missing weight, da Silva will forfeit 30 percent of her purse as a penalty.

Wang also spoke about the situation in an Instagram video, expressing understanding and empathy toward Da Silva. She mentioned that she understands how tough it can be and how it’s not easy for every athlete.

Men’s bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili weighed in just under the limit at 134 pounds, while his opponent, Sean O’Malley, hit the mark exactly at 135 for their highly anticipated title rematch.

Dvalishvili first claimed the belt by defeating O’Malley at UFC 306 and went on to defend it successfully against Umar Nurmagomedov this past January—marking his 12th consecutive win. Both fighters made weight, setting the stage for their highly anticipated rematch.

Women’s bantamweight Kayla Harrison successfully hit the championship weight for the first time. Julianna Peña weighed 135 pounds, while Kayla Harrison hit the same mark with her.

Aside from da Silva’s weight miss, all other fighters on the card made weight without any complications. The rest of the lineup hit their marks smoothly, keeping the rest of the event on track and free of weigh-in drama.
